I Know What it’s Like When Your Life is Disrupted by Trauma
Hi, my name is Lili Clendenning. I am a therapist in Vancouver who specializes in helping people who are suffering with symptoms that are wreaking havoc in their lives.
As someone who has experienced a significant trauma, I know what it’s like living with the turmoil that takes control of your life.
In 1995 I was the victim of a fire. I didn’t realize the impact it had on me until I started experiencing non-stop flashbacks of the day of the fire. This made it nearly impossible to get anything done.
In fact, I had to post-pone my counselling studies because I couldn’t concentrate. I was hypersensitive to sound – especially loud sounds and sirens.
I was isolated, felt numb and was disengaged from my life. These are all symptoms of PTSD.
EMDR – One of the Most Effective Counselling Approaches for Healing Deeply Rooted Problems
Fortunately, I got help when I stumbled across the amazingly effective and science-backed counseling technique called EMDR – Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing.
After only a few EMDR therapy sessions my trauma symptoms were gone!
The resolution of problems doesn’t always happen so quickly for people, but since it did for me I decided I wanted to study EMDR.
10 years later, I’ve helped numerous therapy clients heal with EMDR and have expanded my skills to include other forms of highly effective counselling treatment methods.
